List of Common Terms And Names Used For The Commercial Playground Equipment

Playgrounds are that one place that gives the kids the opportunity to explore themselves. We all see a wide variety and colourful games and equipment which keep the kids engaged for hours. It is that place where kids do not work physically, but mentally too. So while designing this place, there are many important tips to keep in mind to get that perfect playground for kids of all ages, sizes and abilities.

In Australia, many playgrounds are theme-based or made with so much creativity that people just love being there. The equipment used here is made with the latest technologies. You can check the reviews of the commercial playground equipment made by Moduplay. They are very good at their work and can guarantee you the best play area look.

What is those different equipment found in the Australian play areas?

Merry-go-round

This is spinning equipment where kids can hop in and spin around as fast as possible by pushing against the ground. These are also called the roundabouts or carousels.

See-saw

This is one of the favourite equipment for kids. Here it is also called a teeter-totter where the maximum limit is around 25 degrees angle. It also has a shock-absorbing material that will give you that cushion-like feeling. At the centre, there is a spring that can ensure a safe landing for one rider when the other rider will fall off.

Giant stride

This has the tallest pole that is fixed to the ground and a rope-like ladder is attached to the pole and is left hanging. A kid would hold this rope and run as fast as he can only to fly up in the air.

Monkey bars

This is a horizontal ladder that is suspended above the ground with a help of upright poles. Kids can move from one pole to another just like a monkey. They can swing and hop too.

Still Rings

This is the same as the one used in gymnastics. These are rings attached to the long chains hanging around. This is mainly used to improve their upper body strength.

Swings

There are many different versions of swings you will see now like:

  • Accelerator swing: Which has a big disc for sitting
  • Generation swing: This has a closed seat made for toddlers and an open swing for parents to enjoy on
  • Viper swing: This is for the whole group, which has a giant in-line rope so that many people can sit together.
  • Swing with monkey bar: where you can enjoy swinging and climbing and moving from one bar to another.

Slides

Now you will see more plastic slides than metal slides. However, there are different versions of slides that you can see:

  • Slides with open and closed tubes both
  • Some slides are straight while some have curvatures
  • Some slides have a free-standing feature with their stairs while some have roller slides, wavy slides and dual entry ones.

Playground climbers

They are one of those pieces of equipment that help develop muscles in kids. The new generation climbers include:

  • Walker climber
  • Vine climber
  • Rocks
  • Logs
  • Vertical climbing walls

When you are planning to design a playground, you need to consider the above equipment for kids’ enjoyment.
