2. The ability to get out of the comfort zone and solve problems independently

Studying abroad provides us with an opportunity to escape our comfort zone and develop our independence. In the process of studying abroad, we will face many problems and challenges, and because we are in a foreign land, we will gradually develop the ability to solve problems independently, and we will also realize that the world is big and we have infinite possibilities.

Studying abroad means something different for everyone, and different people will reap different outcomes from the experience. Most importantly, we need to find our “reasons” to study abroad. This reason can be as simple as wanting to go abroad to experience overseas education, or it can be to realize a long-standing dream, finding a reason for yourself to study abroad that is enough to convince yourself will make your journey more purposeful. In the process of encountering challenges, you will have enough faith to support you to go on.

Application requirements for studying abroad

The application conditions for studying abroad will vary due to different stages, educational systems and countries, and some schools with better rankings will also require applicants’ school grades. Generally speaking, most of the applicants who want to apply to foreign universities need to meet the following conditions and requirements:

1. Academic certificate

Schools will require students to attach proof of completion of the previous stage, such as a high school diploma. When applying for a master’s degree, the school will also require students to provide college semester transcripts, which are used as screening criteria for the school’s evaluation of admission.

2. Proof of language proficiency

Generally speaking, foreign schools will evaluate students’ foreign language proficiency based on English proficiency tests such as IELTS and TOEFL. In the UK, most universities will require students to achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 or above. If you want to apply for a better-ranked school, you may need a higher English test score.

3. College Entrance Exam

If you want to apply for a US university degree, you need an SAT score, usually 870 or higher. If you want to apply for an MBA or a master’s degree, the school may ask you to attach your GMAT or GRE scores.

4. Personal Statement

This part of the documents is similar to the preparatory materials for applying to a university. Students can show their application motivation, long-term and short-term study plans, personal characteristics, and challenges they have faced in the documents, so that the school can better understand you through a personal statement. In addition, if you want to apply for a department related to art and design, the school usually requires students to attach a portfolio.

5. Letter of recommendation

Some schools will require applicants to attach a letter of recommendation to prove the student’s academic or professional performance, and to understand the characteristics of the student through the letter of recommendation.

6. Interview

After passing the first stage of the book review, some schools will arrange an interview. Through interviews, schools can learn more about whether students’ characteristics conform to the school’s style, whether they have leadership skills, and logical thinking ability.

Each school and department has different application requirements for students. When the school decides whether to admit or not, it will not only look at one project, but will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on the overall ability and characteristics of the students.
