What Is Google Bot? – Description, Features, and Other Information

Google Bot

Definition The Google Bot

Google Bot is the search robot that Google employs. This bot will be in charge of crawling or crawling all URLs on the internet in order to build the Google database.

That is, Google Bot is the bot that Google has programmed to track a web page’s HTML, JS, CSS, and other files. As a result, bots from various internet search engines are referred to as spiders or crawlers.

How does Google Bot function?

Google Bot automatically discovers different Internet URLs by following the various links (both nofollow and dofollow links) that exist on the internet.

How can I prevent Google Bot from accessing my computer?

If a webmaster does not want the Google bot to crawl one or more URLs, they can use the robots.txt file to block their access as well as the access of other Bots from other internet search engines or SEO tools.

However, be extremely cautious when creating such a block because if you do not have extensive knowledge of this type of file, it is very likely that you will make basic SEO mistakes that will harm your web positioning.

How can I tell if a Google Bot has visited my website?

It will be as simple as looking at your server logs to see if Google  has accessed your website.

In them, you will be able to view the access logs to your website and determine whether any movement was performed by the User-Agent (Bot) Google Bot.

This bot will be able to visit you using various browsers and names, such as GoogleBot, GoogleBot Mobile, and so on. As a result, it is critical to examine your server’s logs. Also, look at what actions this bot has taken on your website to identify potential vanishing points and errors.

This procedure can be carried out by establishing internal and external links (backlinks). Because the Google crawler’s primary function is to follow links and discover URLs based on those links.

It’s also worth noting that GoogleBot doesn’t just crawl HTML files and their contents. It can also crawl and locate images, PDF files, XML files, and so on.

Currently, the only way to “trick” GoogleBot into not following links is to obfuscate links. As of now, it is having difficulty following all links that do not have an HTML tag.
